In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you. For this is the essence of the Law and the Prophets.
He writes this way in all his letters, speaking in them about such matters. Some parts of his letters are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible.
Be imitators of God, therefore, as beloved children,
Now there was a rich man dressed in purple and fine linen, who lived each day in joyous splendor. And a beggar named Lazarus lay at his gate, covered with sores and longing to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and I know this very well.
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
